Ms.Warrington Diary Homework..

Wednesday 26th January 2011...
During my time on facebook which required me using the internet, I was browsing through a MC who goes by the name 'Naga MC'. On his page he posted a link of his new track called 'step forward', the link had redirected me to BBC Asian Network where the station was broadcasting his new official single. This is an example of two diffrent media convergence.

Thursday 27th January 2011...
I was on MSN when one of my friend asked me 'have you heard Chris Brown's new track?' when i replied 'no' and asked him 'send me the link to his new track' he gave me a youtube link from that I was able to listen to his new track called 'Look At Me Now ft Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne'. Afterwards by using my phone's USB cable I was able to transfer the music from my laptop to my phone, now I have his latest track on my phone ^_^

Friday 28th January 2011...
I was looking at some clothes on my laptop using the internet when a pop-up appeared on my screen advertising Ralph Lauren new clothes. Excited by that I clicked on it and instantly I was able to see the latest clothes that Ralph Lauren was presenting. From that news I texted my friend who was mad about Ralph Lauren saying 'check out the latest clothes on Ralphlauren.com'.

Eyeline Match...

In this task I was assigned to edit the video, while Fahim done the camera work and Mustaq done the script. When I was editing I learnt two new things, these were how to add music to the clip and how to add slide shows in between (Title and Credits). Adding music to this particular clip really helped as it created a sense of humour which I feel, it makes video's more interesting and entertaining. Furthermore, I learnt that by adding slide shows it makes the video easier to understand. For example the audience will be able to tell the title of the task and be able to relate it to the clip. Although Fahim had done a great job with the camera work we were able to spot that whilst zooming out of Mustaq, the camera had moved which did not look effective and professional. Bearing this in mind I shall make sure during my course work the camera person does not shake unless it is required for a specific effect. Looking back at the clip I agree that the storyline was good, however I believe that there was not enough shots to visualize the script more vividly and effectively.

Action Match 2...

In this task I was assigned to help with the editing. When editing I found out that it was very difficult to make sure that the clip seems like it has been done it one take. To ensue that it seems like it has been done in one take, I had to make sure when the different clips were assembled together in IMovie, that it did not overlap with each other. I learnt that this is very important part of editing as it needs to make sense or the audience will not be able to understand it. By recording from different angles it is much more effective as the audience will get a better vision of the clip. To make this better I believe that we should made it clear of what the object is. Maybe in the beginning we could have some how shown the object in a scene.

Action Match...

In my opinion I believe that this video was excellent. The "Action Match" task obligatory that we create a short clip of a action move but from different angles and be able to put it together. I took on the responsibility of putting the video's together and make it look like as though it was done it one shot. I have learnt that creating a clip like this takes a lot of time as you have to record the same thing over and over again. Through this task I feel that I have adapted to the editing part of the video more successfully. This is due to the fact, that in this task a huge amount of cutting and adding clips was involved. As a result I am more confident with editing and the understanding of how it works. Fahim had also helped me with the editing while Mustaq done a excellent job at filming.

The Chase...

I believe that "The Chase" scene was a success as it met the criteria that was required. A panel shot was compulsory in this scene and also a short clip of a character being chased. As a group we decided to put these two requirements in the same part of the clip, i.e when I (Thug) was being chased by Abdul (Member Of Public) while the camera was following the action throughout (Panelling).

However, I think we could have done better if we used more sound in this very particular video. An example of where we could have used sound is during the chase. If we had used a jazzy but fast type of music then I think we could've emphasized the chase scene even more. Also looking back at the video me (thug) and Abdul (member of public) should have used the weapons on each other at a slower pace so that it enables the audience to see exactly what weapon is being used.

Lighting...

The "Lighting" task I believe was not the best that we could have done, maybe because it was our first video and we needed time to adjust. The main purpose of this task is obviously lighting; how we use lighting to create a certain atmosphere. At the beginning of the video the lights were on, this was done to point our who are the main characters and to show where the setting is being held. After me (Student) and Abdul (Student) have walked into the room we turned off the lights in the passage, this conveys that where me and Abdul have entered it is a scary place. Hence forth when we entered the room the place was dark. After that we recorded Abdul's and my facial expression while taking the test. At this point we shone a light on each of our face's, this was done to show the how the students are feeling and making them the centre of attention. Although not a huge amount of lighting was used we learnt that lighting is not always required in a video.

We could have made this video better if there was more drama. I felt that the video lacked the "wow" factor and I feel it will not grab the audiences attention. There should have been more talking between the characters or maybe a 3rd character. Also we did not use music which always makes any video less exciting, in my opinion.

Quiet Task...
